What happens to what you tell me. It's short, because I keep very little.
The short version
- Only I read your brief. It goes to my inbox, with a backup copy on my web host.
- No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels. None.
- I never sell or share what you tell me. My email and my web host just deliver and store it.
- Email me and I'll show you what I have, fix it or delete it.
What I collect
Only what you type into the brief form:
- Your name and email address
- Your startup's name and, if it has one, its current website
- What you need, your timeline and your budget range
- Your Origin Story answer and anything else you add, if you fill them in
Email me instead and I get whatever is in your email.
The forms on the demo sites in my work are props. Nothing you type into them is sent anywhere.
Like every website, mine also has standard server logs, kept by my web host: your IP address, your browser, the pages you open and when.
Where it goes
- My inbox. The form emails your brief to me through Gmail, so Google delivers and stores that email.
- A backup copy. Saved on my web host, EVLBOX, in a folder outside the public site, so no one can open it in a browser. With it go the time it arrived and a shortened one-way hash of your IP address: a scrambled code, not the address itself.
- A send limit. A small file keeps that same code and the times you sent, for an hour, so one connection can't send more than 5 briefs an hour.
- A spam net. The form also sends how long it was open, because bots fill it in instantly. That number isn't kept. Briefs my checks catch aren't emailed: they're kept in a separate file, so I can still find a real one caught by mistake.
Google and my web host may store it on servers outside your country.
What I don't do
- Cookies
- 0
- Analytics
- 0
- Ads
- 0
- Trackers
- 0
No analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels and no scripts from anyone else. Even the fonts come from this site, so opening a page tells no one but my web host that you were here.
I don't sell your information, rent it or share it for advertising. Google and my web host only deliver and store it for me.
I won't add you to a mailing list. I reply to your brief, and that's it.
On your device
No cookies. Not one.
Press Pause motion in the footer and your browser remembers it (in its local storage, as heyim-motion), so the site stays still next time. Press Play motion and it's gone.
The Lullops demo in my work remembers light or dark mode (as lullops-theme) the same way.
While you click around, your browser also notes how far down each page you were (in its session storage, as heyim-scroll), so Back takes you to the same spot. It's gone when you close the tab.
All of it stays in your browser. None of it is ever sent to me.
Your rights
Email me and I'll show you what I have about you, correct it or delete it. It's free, and you don't need a reason. The one thing I may have to keep: tax records, if we've worked together.
Laws like the GDPR in the EU, the UK GDPR and California's CCPA give you these rights and a few more, like taking your data elsewhere or complaining to a data protection authority. I'll honor them wherever you live.
Why I'm allowed to use your information at all: you asked me to reply to your brief, and the logs, the send limit and the spam net keep the site safe from spam. That's all it's used for.
In the CCPA's words: I don't sell or share personal information.
How long I keep it
While we're talking, then as a business record for up to 2 years. After that I delete it, from my inbox and my web host.
If we work together, I also keep what tax law says to keep, for as long as it says.
My web host clears out its server logs on its own schedule.
Changes
If I change how any of this works, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
Under 16s
This site is for founders. It isn't aimed at anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you think a child sent me a brief, email me and I'll delete it.
